Illinois Pro-Life March 3/25/25

The Illinois Pro-Life March was on 3/25/25 at the Springfield Capitol. We started with a “Mass for Giving Thanks to God for the Gift of Human Life” at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). Many Priests and Bishops; including our own Bishop Hicks and Auxiliary Bishop Spies performed a Mass on the Solemnity of the Annunciation.

A bus with Parishioners from St. Patrick Parish in Yorkville and Knights from God’s Divine Mercy Council #14463 gathered in the Capital Pavilion prior to the March.

Many Pro-Life speeches took place, in front of our Illinois State Capital building. Among the speakers were former Illinois state representative and gubernatorial candidate Jeanne Ives and Bishop Paprocki of the Springfield Roman Catholic Diocese.

Mary Kate Zander, president of Illinois Right to Life, said the group is paying attention to legislation to legalize physician-assisted suicide, provide abortions as “student health services” at public universities, and label employers’ pro-life views or statements as “harassment” of their employees.

A team from the University of Illinois was outstanding.

Members of the KOC Parade team were first positioned around the speakers and then escorted our Marchers.

A special thanks was given to the members of the “Springfield Police Department” for blocking off the streets for us during the March.

A few of us; at the head of the event, paced the Marchers along our route around the Capital Building.

Father Matt Lamoureux; from St. Patrick’s Parish in Yorkville (who also led us in Prayers on the bus trip to Springfield), joined the marchers for a photo before the start of the March.

The March which went around the Illinois State Capital Building took place on a beautiful day.

The 2025 Illinois Pro-Life March was a great experience. My favorite themes “Choose Life” and “Make More Babies”.
