The IL State KOC Convention was on held on 5/16/25, 5/17/25 & 5/18/25. We started the Convention on Saturday morning with our Color Guard and a parade of Council Banners.

SK Eric Wood led the way; with Commander David Wingier leading the Color Guard, both of Bishop Blanchette Assembly #3044.

The KOC’s many activities were on display; especially Pro-Life, “Ama la vida, elige la vida” in Spanish translates to “Love life, choose life” in English.

The KOC also had a Missing Knight Table.

Awards were given out to many Councils; Deputy Grand Knight Robert Mambu of St. Thomas Council #15822 (Who picked up a few awards), knew to sit next to the Joliet Chapter Webmaster.

Special Olympics representatives received a few checks from the KOC.
Big One: $150,000
Small One: $12,000

Bishop Blanchette Assembly Trustee, District Deputy & Joliet Chapter Vice President John Moravecek received the State Deputy Medallion.

On Sunday 5/18/25; there were two notable 10 AM Masses, the first was Pope Leo’s 1st Mass in Rome.

The second was a 10 AM CST Mass at OLM with my Brother Sir Knights for Father Vince’s 1st Mass.

Our Brother Knight and newly Ordained Priest; Father Vince, was given a Pope Leo XIV Holy Card.

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.

And a Chalice from KOC Council $12005; as is our tradition, with newly Ordained Priests.

A special thanks to our Bishop Blanchette Assembly Illinois State KOC Representative Jerry Bevignani; who again was busy coordinating Convention Activities and SK Bill Schelli who had the honor of seconding the nomination for Mike Blackburn; for State Secretary, at this years State Convention.

District Deputy and Chapter Sentinal Jim McCarthy received a Rising Star Award.
