Six Flags Great America and Special Olympics Illinois again teamed up for the Coaster Challenge on Saturday, September 27, 2025; to support, the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.
Coaster-Riders registered for $25, fundraised and rode the distance of a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Marathon on Six Flags Great America’s world-class roller coasters.
Fundraising Levels
- Rode the distance of a 5K = $150 fundraising minimum
- Rode the distance of a 10K = $300 fundraising minimum
- Rode the distance of a Half Marathon = $500 fundraising minimum
- Rode the distance of a Marathon = $1,000 fundraising minimum
The Special Olympics Volunteer team arrived early (6:30 AM) to prepare to check-in “Coaster Riders”.
The volunteers included Joliet Chapter Webmaster Robert Pellegrini
and his Wife Dawn.
Our Illinois State Council Knights of Columbus flag was displayed on one of the Special Olympics tents.
Over 250 riders; who each had to raise $150 to compete, included “Team Bevignani”.
Our Illinois KOC State Program Director; Jerry Bevignani and his family, raised a lot more than $150 to support Special Olympics Athletes!
Great job again “Team Bevignani”!
